avoided, ignored, belittled, denied, misunderstood, and
untreated cause of human suffering.”

Welcome

We are honored that you would consider our services.  Feel free to look around our site and contact us concerning any questions you may have concerning the counseling or consultative process with Whitney Smith Christian Counseling & Consulting.

Mission

To afford each client with an opportunity to be felt, heard, and understood so that within the context of safety and truth, needed change can be experienced.

Process

After initiating an appointment request, an initial evaluation will be scheduled.  During this evaluation, Whitney and each client will collectively determine treatment goals.  Using the most current trauma-informed research and therapies, the counseling process will begin with an effort to create a felt sense of safety and empowerment.  In some cases, additional resources could be advised to support the overall well-being of each client.

Outcome

The process involves benefits and risks. Risks may include experiencing uncomfortable feelings such as sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger, frustration, loneliness and helplessness; however, counseling has been shown to have benefits for individuals who undertake it and can lead to a significant reduction in feelings of distress and an improved sense of relational satisfaction and personal awareness and insight in problem-solving.

But, there are no guarantees.

Counseling requires a very active work on your part and Whitney will provide the safe and professional space needed to work the process.
