I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor in the state of North Carolina and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I have been working with clients in private practice in Mount Airy since 2019. My clinical focus is providing individual counseling for adults 18+ who are struggling with depression, anxiety, and trauma symptoms. In working with clients, I incorporate somatic resourcing, sandtray therapy, and EMDR, as well as elements of cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness.

I seek to provide a calming environment that conveys each client is seen, heard, and valued. I take a nurturing and supportive approach in connecting with clients in therapeutic relationship. I also value collaboration, working together as therapist and client to determine the areas of focus as well as the techniques and between-session “homework” that keep us moving toward the client’s goals.

Our past experiences can create patterns of thinking, beliefs, and reactions that negatively affect our lives and relationships and make us feel stuck in a cycle we feel helpless to escape. My approach to therapy moves through a framework of identifying past and present factors that contribute to those patterns, strengthening healthy coping strategies, and working through those factors to develop a positive sense of self and an expansive view of future possibilities.

My perspective in counseling is shaped by my own Christian worldview. While I do not expect you to share my beliefs, you do have a right to know them. I believe we were created to live in relationship with God and one another, but due to the brokenness of our world, disconnections occur in our relationships and often result in emotional, psychological, and relational wounds. While this worldview shapes how I view the world and life, I only incorporate these principles as clients feel comfortable.
